Catalog Gallery is a brick-and-mortar art gallery that opened on October 8th, 2010 in the heart of Vancouver’s Gastown district. The space itself is a beautiful build by Brodie Kitchen (tincanstudio.org), Clint Kitchen and Robert Squire. The humble 16ft (height) x 20ft (depth) x 20ft (width) of display space are well lit, with enough power to drive multimedia shows and installations in many formations.
Catalogs mandate is to program theme-driven shows that highlight Vancouver’s creative community and place place it firmly in the global conversation of art. We will achieve this by pairing artists with their international contemporaries though a series of group and solo exhibitions. With a underlying focus on showing artists that span the grey-areas between traditional mediums, we hope to create a multi dimensional and positive addition to the flourishing West Coast art scene.
In addition to our monthly programming we will also be curating renegade art and music events both locally and abroad… and serve as a host gallery for touring exhibitions.
Our curator, Vaughn Robert Squire is an accomplished multi-disciplined artist/designer/composer with over 20 years of arts industry experience. At different times he has worn a lot of hats, producing streaming media channels for major film and television companies, serving as in-house art director/designer for record labels, producing art books for boutique publishing houses and curating arts and music events across North America.
In keeping with our priority of supporting Vancouver artists, we have an open call-for-submission policy. Submissions can be made in person or digitally via email.
