I play live. This means I play LIVE. Once I am setup, it stays setup until I play. I don’t need much time to setup, but I do need real estate when I play. If your setup is done properly, I don’t need a soundcheck, just space. The things I bring with me to play live are as follows…
(1) A MIDI CONTROLLER. (1) LAPTOP (1) SMALL SOUNDCARD. (1) 37 KEY HARDWARE SYNTH.
If I am playing at your club/party/home/rooftop/park I need the following things from you:
1 LARGE (4 ft wide+space for mixer) TALL (3 & 1/2 ft to 4 ft tall) sturdy table.
I need a good DJ or Channel mixer with SEPARATE BOOTH OUTPUTS on it. A mic is also good.
I need 2 monitors placed at both ends of the table I play on.
I run a compressor already. My audio signal should run direct to your P.A. with as little processing as possible (room EQ excluded from that). You will not need a soundguy for my sets, provided your system is set up properly. I know what I am doing & will not blow your shit up.
If I am playing an A/V set, I also need to send a VGA feed to your projector(s). No scan converters should be between me and the projector. I need to play direct to the projector. I play time-sync’d visuals and when I run though other boxes it loses the sync.
My rider is as follows.
Steak & potatoes dinner + Bottle of bourbon (Makers, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Bullet, Etc).
Last but not least… On the topic of design. If you are booking me for a show, and the aesthetic for the print material resembles a psychedelic spirit / shaman disguised as a forest animal / has more than on fluo pantone on a primrary color/ has my name written in weed leaves, or any type of budda/shiva/lion of judah icons, I will not post the information about the show. Forgive me, but I place a great deal of importance on visual language, and do not wish to be lumped into things that I find aesthetically offensive.
With that being said, if you are booking me, and want a tight looking flyer, drop an extra 100 bucks on the booking, send me the copy, and let me handle it for you. I will make it pretty, promise.
