!!!GIFTS/JANUARYDATES/INFOS!!!

Everyone LOVES presents right?

As a kind thank you to all the folks who helped us out this year, Megasoid/Weaponshouse (with a lot of weird science / help from our smart dude Karn) would like to offer a small gift to all the modular nerds out there. We are giving away our first cutter/controller patch for the Nord Modular G2 environment (our main weapon of choice for performing our material).

The main part of the patch is a stereo Attack, Decay, Release which is triggered off a step sequencer/beat chopper that can rhythmically toggle on/off parts of the live input. When the ADR is tigntened, it can change the playback envelope of songs in real time, and CUT the beat. We suggest trying this as a live processor for Ableton, but it will work with any host sequencer sending midi clock and audio simultaneously to the G2. In addition to the beat chopper, it is also a filter box, a delay, a bit crusher, a beat scrubber, and a transformer switch. We suggest modding the patch to your taste in filters/fx, and using the variation buttons to store 8 presets that work with your music.

On top of that, It the patch is an Assignable/Labelable controller. The controller consists of 3 parameter pages, each with 3 Banks, that holds 8 labelable cc knobs, for a total of 72 controllers for you to assign as you wish, from filters to mix volumes, sends or whatever you like! The G2 is a fantastic controller, especially when used as a real time beat chopper + filterbox. We have been using it all year. We hope you will use it all next year!

Download by clicking the image above (12kb .pch file) should run at about 95% on a non expanded G2. Feel free to send us your tweaks on it!

America! We are coming to visit. We are currently in the process of finishing up our work visa so we can come hang out with you more often, and collaborate with you.

The first of a series of frequent travels will be to the wonderful cities San Francisco, Portland and Colorado. We would like to thank the kind folks at ArtNowSF, BassCamp, The Abstract Earth Project and the Gothic Theatre for making this happen. Sick Lineups, Fun shows and good people. It gets no better in Montreal than to leave this snowpile in mid January. We sincerely thank you all.

Megasoid are working on their record full time between now and April, with only a few shows, and a few little remixes to complete (we just delivered one to our homie Vyle that is straight FIRE, it will be on the digi-single for the next Hoodtronix mixtape). The list of rappers is already crazy, but we are seeing who delivers the best songs before we start letting cats out of bags.

What else? Big plans for SXSW. Speakerbruiser in Japan mid Feb, and um? New York City, it's on for late spring.

We wish everyone the best for the holidays.
See you in 2009.

!!!MID NOVEMBER 3-D UPDATE + X-MAS LIST BONUS !!!

Thanks for coming and checking in. We are currently holed up in studio writing mode, making bangers and plotting heavy for the 2009 hustle. The rumors are already out there, but we will start confirming them in the next couple of weeks. Here is our top 10 'things we want but can't afford to consumerize' for the holiday.

For them:

All the flowers + furniture for my girl.
All the plane tickets for my mom.
All the chocolate for my family.
All the drums and VSTs for my team.
All the analog synths for megasoid.

For me, I am easy. I make list of tools all day and night.

Leica DLux4 or Canon PowershotG10. I don't care rilly.
Machinedrum MK2 red anniversary edition. Incredible. The best. A beast.
Apogee Duet Soundcard. So fresh and so clean. Hadji got one, it is gooood.
New 15" Macbook Pro + 24" iMac. Never enough.
Monome + Lemur + Ohm. Push it to the limit.
Fender Rhodes. I miss it.

So speaking of things to buy + wants and needs...

Furni and Raised by Wolves made this awesome Digital Watch Collabo that our entire circle of friends have been eagerly awaiting. The watches themselves are an 80's style LCD with phonebook, stopwatch, timer and multi chime alarm. They are available three slick colors (baby blue, red and black) and are shipping now. The oh-so-true "This ain't no time to have your wrists freezin" motto is engraved on the watch back, so you are looking good even when you leave it at that special someone's place.

You can get them over at the Furni shop.

The first 50 people to buy the combo set also get this awesome 3d book, which includes 3d photos of personal working spaces of the fine folks listed below. Sick project, we ride for it. Oh yeah, and we are in the book as well, so that is obviously a plus.

Our man Pablo finally got the first DVD copies of "Next: a Primer on Urban Painting". You will be able to purchase them directly off off his site soon! Sixtoo did a large chunk of the soundtrack for the film, a great look for any documentary. It also features a grip of our dudes from around the world, really nice to see it concentrated into a couple hours of nice footage.

In the same vein, our friend Roadsworth has his "Crossing The Line" documentary showing in Montreal, November 21st and 22nd as part of the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM)

Also this month, The young dudes Mofomatronix and Lunice have started the new "Super Aqua Club" monthly at Zoobizarre. Should be a banger, with Mike Slott coming through from NY. Peep that MF'n "make it raincloud!". Hot sounds, dope spot.

!!NYE Turbo Crunk is all sewn up. Lazer Sword (S.F) + NosajThing (L.A) + Megasoid + Lunice + Hovatron on that heavy duty P.A. shit. Flyer and Tix next week !!!

Thats it for now.

FALL UPDATE = NEW SITE + NEW MIXES! click on the covers to download! (windoze users decompress with WinZip!)

Welcome to the new Weaponshouse website!

There have been a bunch of cool things going on for our team over the past few weeks and months. So I'll try to be brief.

Megasoid and Hovatron have these new mixtapes. (PC peoples, use WinZip to unzip!)

Megasoid have been on a strictly-weekends tour for the last month and a half, breaking soundsystems and bottles in numerous cities. Our team would like to sincerely thank all the people that came out and rocked with us, especially Glitch Mob, Lighta!, ADD, The New Yorker, LOLA fest, and our LuckyMe peoples, who put Montreal on smash-mode for Pop Montreal's Turbo Crunk event.

You can check out what Spin Magazine had to say about Megasoid after catching the LuckyMe x TurboCrunk Pop Montreal fiasco. We think it is cute that we are named "#1 up-and-coming band in Montreal" considering we have been putting on some of the best shit in the city for 2 years straight, but maybe we are missing something. Haha. Pure jokes, but we do really appreciate that some new people were feeling the night. Lunice and Mofomatronix played hard as well, so, on behalf of everyone in the Turbo Crunk family we would like to say thanks to everyone that came out, and that Lucky Me are welcome to rock with us anytime.

We will be doing it again soon (N.Y.E.2009 is gonna be off the chain!), and aside from that we are already plotting heavy for the SXSW bizness.

So yeah, the tour was really fun. Hopefully we will up some photos soon. We forgot our cameras. Actually, the camera in our possession looks like crap in comparison to what we most lust for, and we are holding out for one.

Whoot De Whoo.

The only music critic we regularly check for, Sasha Frere Jones (The New Yorker) took a good stab at naming the unnamable, ever-morphing street-bass music that the Megasoid and the entire Turbo Crunk family contribute to... You can check out his article on "Lazer Bass" at The New Yorker Online. You'll notice Megasoid's "Tank Thong" Mix (posted below) comes highly recommended, we think you should try out the new "Remix Runners" Mix (posted above). In addition to his article, Sasha also named Megasoid's remix of Ghislain's "No More Blood" the Best Song of 2007.

As a service to our man Sasha, we gave him exclusives on our new mixes (which are now reposted here at weaponshouse) and we decided to play his party (The New Yorker Festival Party). As usual, N.Y. was a strange place full of dynamic individuals. I think I can safely say that we were scared to be playing for a room full of the type of people we would assume reads The New Yorker. With that bit of fear came the re-enforcement. Just as we were about to play, Ghislain whispered "good luck", and we were doomed. Needless to say, we cleared the dancefloor around 2am... but, cleared it with an interesting twist. All the white people left.

To the remaining folks who danced their asses off, screamed rap music at us, refused to leave, and sang us our national anthem at the end of the night, you were the saving grace for us. Thank you dudes. If you are reading this, the drinks are on us next time, and thanks for getting us bent back.

Given our reciprocal nature, or in case you are just joining the class and need a refresher we are re-upping our Megasoid "Tank Thong" mix from earlier this year:

plus most of our remixes from both mixtapes (Megasoid "Speed Knots" Vol.1 and 2)

and the LuckyMe x Turbo Crunk Promocast from our Pop Montreal party.

We hope you enjoy. Megasoid is currently setting up the studio to work on our record, which we can assure you is going to be a monster of a project. Expect it for next summer, as the winter is almost here. Thanks again to everyone that came out and rocked with us! Megasoid will only be taking one-off bookings for the winter and spring, as it seems we might be on a relocation program of some sort. Tell your peoples. NYC. It's on. Holler @ Mike D / Sofa King Raw for Bookings
